Bruno gets funky and retro in "Locked Out of Heaven" video

Instagram isn't the only one who can do stylized retro aesthetics really well. Bruno Mars unveiled the video for his new single "Locked Out of Heaven" yesterday, and it's a throwback clip, that looks like it was recorded in 1987 and played on a VHS tape.

We shouldn't be surprised though. Bruno showed off his love for old-school technology with the video for his first single "Just the Way You Are," which used cassette tape film throughout it. At this point, we can only assume that Mr. Mars will be integrating the beeper somehow in his next video.

In the clip, Bruno mostly performs in what looks like a rowdy hole-in-the-wall club. The girls in the audience get wet and sexy to the music, while clips of Bruno hanging out with his posse are shown. He's seen smoking in several of the scenes.

It's all very rock'n'roll and Rat Pack.

If Nicki Minaj were Pee Wee Herman, this, ladies and gentlemen, is what her funhouse would look like.

Part-Halloween and part-carnival circus, Nicki's new video for "I Am Your Leader" mixes Nicki's love for Crayola colored wigs, monster faces and high fashion and throws in some hefty breast meat from a topless Rick Ross.

Brandy swags out in the long-awaited "Put It Down" video

Don't ever, never count B-Rocka down for the count. While Human may not have done what it should've, Brandy is fighting back with all that she's got with this new era.

"Put It Down" is cannonball of a shot at the industry. Brandy is coming heavy and she's put in work to impress folks with her comeback. The video for "Put It Down" does good job of giving us flashes of nostalgia (Hello "I Wanna Be Down" braids) along with doses of the new Brandy.

And the new Brandy, to use a bit of a cliched term, is fierce. Brandy pats her weave and two-steps like a boss all throughout the video. The swagger is so serious.

Nicki Minaj throws a Trini Carnival homecoming in "Pound the Alarm" video

Though Nicki Minaj has mastered accents from Jamaica, London, and New Yawk, the truth is that at heart, she's still a Trini gal.

Nicki left Trinidad when she was 5 but she makes up for lost time in her wild, sexy and sunny video for her latest single, "Pound the Alarm." The Ministry of Tourism for Trinidad might want to cut Nicki a check too, cause this video is the best publicity the island nation's gotten in years.

No Doubt sticks to its roots on Caribbean-flavored "Settle Down"

While it's been more than 10 years since No Doubt released their last studio album, Rocksteady, you wouldn't be able to tell it by the vibe of their comeback single, "Settle Down." The island-flavored song essentially picks up right where the band left off, firmly planted in its reggae/rock stylings.

The other amazing feat is that Gwen Stefani, now a 42-year-old mother of two, doesn't look like she's aged at all in the past 10 years. And she still fits into the clothes she wore when she was in her 20s. Who's bad?

Drake and Meek Mill praise and worship themselves in "Amen" video

For readers who are more familiar with the pop-side of hip-hop, Meek Mill might not be a familiar name. But Drake has taken him on as a brother in hip-hop, adding him to this who's who of opening acts on his Club Paradise tour.

Oh, and he also happened to be right next to Drake when that whole Drake/Chris Brown fight went down in the club. So there's that too.

In the video for their collaboration, you can't help but think of that fight in the NYC club that resulted in Chris getting chin checked in the scenes where Drake and Meek toast and pop bottles in the club. Somebody should probably hold Chris as he watches this video cause he might have painful flashbacks.

The video itself isn't much to write about. It serves as a hybrid tour/club video, as scenes of the young bucks (J.Cole, Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar) on the Club Paradise tour are mixed in with shots of Drizzy (rockin' a basic red Lacoste polo) and Meek performing in the city of Camden.

See if you can watch the video and not think of that fight in the club.

Bonde do Rolê get carried away in a wild beach party in "Brazilian Boys" video

The last time we saw the wild and crazy gang of Bonde do Rolê, they were busy giving us food porn for their dirty eats video "Kilo." Now, they're ready to get rowdy at the beach with bare skin, speedos and some fit (and not so fit) bodies to boot.

Veering from their usual Portuguese-language material, BDR calls on Jamaican songstress Ce'Cile for the vocals to the new single, "Brazilian Boys." Unfortunately, she doesn't make an appearance in the video, so Laura is left lipsynching to her words.

Lana Del Rey's "National Anthem" video is so hipster that it hurts

Aside from Adele, there's no one more invested in retro revivalism than Lana Del Rey. Although her beats are laced with heat from modern hip-hop producers like Jeff Bhasker, her vocals and stylings are all from yesteryear. A voice like Nancy Sinatra and outfits from American Bandstand best describe Lana's '60s-flavored image so far.

Her latest video for "National Anthem," carries on her love of things both past and present as she teams up with A$AP Rocky and director Anthony Mandler for an Instagram, interracial, hipster retelling of the life and death of John F. Kennedy's love life and his assassination.
