Growing into a global superstar ain't easy. The fact is going from zero to pop hero requires a bit of a transformation. When Nicki Minaj went from "Itty Bitty Piggy" to "Starships," there was bound to be a bit of a backlash.
The loudest and most angry voice against Minaj's pop ambitions as of late was Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg.
After roasting the song regularly on his morning show, he couldn't help but take the opportunity to slam Minaj and her RedOne-produced song at Hot 97's Summer Jam earlier this month. That tirade turned out to be a big mistake as it got back to Nicki and YMCMB and left Hot 97 without one of its biggest stars for it biggest event.
Well if Peter Rosenberg doesn't want "Starships" at his festival, the fine folks at BBC's Hackney Weekend were more than happy to get "higher than a motherf**ker" with Mama Minaj.
Check out the insane crowd reaction to Nicki's performance of the pop smash yourself. When's the last time a Lil' Kim song got that kind of reception? We'll wait.
