The nicest thing that can be said about Nicki Minaj and David Guetta's "Turn Me On" video is that it started out nicely. The opening frames of David Guetta putting together a fembot is actually pretty damn well done. Nicki Minaj's autotuned voice goes perfectly with the overall mechanically inspired imagery and delivery of the song.
But things quickly go nowhere once Nicki actually steps into the picture.

Did David Guetta just yank the plot from the Android Saga from Dragon Ball Z? Because that was very Dr. Geroish of him and very Android 18-like of Nicki Minaj.
As a concept, the "mad scientist and androids gone bad" thing could've worked. But this whole thing was clearly half-baked.
Said to have been filmed at the tail end of last year, Nicki clearly didn't spend much time on the set. She has one outfit and wears only one wig in the video, which is a sign that this was a drive-by appearance.
The biggest problem with the video isn't the outfits though, it's the lack of drama. Exactly why are the androids turning against David Guetta, their creator? Usually in these rise of the machines tales, the robots turn against their master because of mistreatment or abuse. But we never even see Guetta withhold a bucket of bolts from these robots. The only thing that happens is Nicki expressionlessly waking up and walking out of the lab as all of the bald-headed prototypes stare at her.
Once they see her, they immediately start turning their heads toward the lab and one picks up an ax as they go after the good doctor. What, we're supposed to believe this is some jealous fit of rage because Android Minaj came out perfect? Please. They didn't even look mad.
"Stupid Hoe" is a far better use of your time if you're looking for music video fun from Nicki Minaj. It looks like she put most of her time and effort into her own project rather than Guetta's, which sort of makes sense since this is officially the fourth and likely last single from his Nothing But the Beat album.
