Since American Idol dubs itself a family show, Rihanna was forced to put away the whips and chains, no matter how much they excite her.
The multiplatinum superstar instead performed a gentle and beautiful rendition of Loud's fourth single, "California King Bed." Decked out in an evening gown and a Diana Ross-style big hair, Rihanna belted the lyrics to her lonely ballad gracefully. For once, even Rihanna's harshest critics won't have much room to gripe about her live vocals.
After the performance, Rihanna revealed that she and her team had just completed the stage design for the upcoming Loud tour. She announced that they were actually building seats on the stage, so fans can be treated to a real VIP view of the show. Like it, like it, c'mon. The Navy's gonna get to see every bead of sweat on Rihanna's brow this summer as she works the stage.
