This is all the judges' fault. When America rightly voted to send home sideshow act Casey Abrams, the judges went ahead and wasted their save early in the game. While it sent Casey Abrams into hilarious drama queen convulsions on stage, you just knew that somehow this decision was gonna come back to bite us. And now it has. Pia Toscano, luz de nuestra vida, has been unjustly voted off of American Idol.
While Pia Toscano overplayed the ballad card on more than one occasion, she was one of the few Idolistas who had the whole package (looks, talent and charisma) and the potential to make it as a viable recording artist in today's industry.
The ousting was such a surprise that Idol judge Jennifer Lopez was positively verklempt and choked up about the whole thing. Jennifer Lopez reacted with the level of shock that one would expect she would have upon seeing the ghost of Selena. Ay, que susto!

Yes, Jennifer. We don't know what to say either.
The fact that Scotty McCreery, Casey Abrams and Stefano Langone remain in the competition while Pia is sent home says more about the viewing audience than it does about Pia's talent. Clearly, Idol viewers, or rather VOTERS, are largely little girls who vote based on their crushes and less on the singer's talents.
But Pia shouldn't fret. The last few winners of American Idol haven't fared so well, so it's probably for the best. Hopefully she'll join the ranks of Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert as talents that were undeservedly overlooked in the Idol pageant show.
This is the performance that sent Pia packing. The talent that oozed from this woman's pores and still America turned her away? Shame.
